Welcome to Two Dads UK, thanks for stopping by!

Two Dads UK was founded in 2017 by us — Michael and Wes — after our first surrogacy journey and the birth of our beautiful daughter, Talulah.

We learnt so much along the way, good and bad, and we realised we could help others by sharing our story. So that’s what we did through Two Dads UK and today we’re still helping others learn more about what safe, supported and ethical surrogacy looks like. Not only that but we advocate for other same-sex families, helping to make sure no one else experiences the challenges we did.

Speak to Michael to learn about independent surrogacy, surrogacy through an organisation such as My Surrogacy Journey, and surrogacy in the UK and internationally.

We can help answer all of your questions, such as: How much does surrogacy cost? How long does it take? What is gestational surrogacy? Are there risks with UK surrogacy? What are the wait times to find a surrogate? We’ve been there — we know how it feels!

Our journey

So, here’s a bit more about us, our family and our journey to parenthood.

Michael and Wes

We met in 2012 at Birmingham Pride. Wes already had a daughter from his first marriage, but we both knew we wanted more. In 2014 we decided that surrogacy was the route for us and in 2016, Talulah was born.

We met our wonderful surrogate, Caroline, online. She was looking for someone to be a surrogate for after completing her own family. And we were so happy that she agreed to be our surrogate for a second time, carrying our second child, the gorgeous Duke who was born in 2019.

But it was a bumpy ride for both of our journeys and one we wouldn’t want anyone else to experience. We experienced discrimination and prejudice throughout our journeys by NHS Hospital staff. We had a failed round of IVF in 2018, which also led to the accidental loss of all our embryos.

Overall, our journeys highlighted much needed change in policy for people growing their families through surrogacy.

Three children, two donors, two surrogates, an amazing doctor and our wonderful midwife.

In 2025 we welcomed our third child via surrogacy, the little miracle that is Ottavio (Otto). But this time we had a new surrogate, Marcela, through surrogacy in Mexico City.
