Planning a pathway to parenthood starts at different moments for everybody. Perhaps you have always known that one day you want to grow a family, perhaps you had never entertained the idea until adulthood and are now faced with decisions that you had not given much attention to previously.

The media and public messaging on parenthood is very much led by commercial and money making businesses. Everywhere we look, if our eyes are open to it there are pictures of cute babies, happy smiling faces and families, all wrapped up in clean white sheets enjoying a sunny day or picnic, jumping, skipping and merrily enjoying their bundles of joy, usually in a heteronormative family structure, usually with two parents, usually without complications and usually not the least bit representative of who we are!

For many people the reality of the journey to parenthood couldn’t look any more different from this picture perfect depiction of how it happens and works. The reality of modern families today is both progressive evidence of how we have shifted societally, legally and medically towards a world which accepts our diversification from the above depicted ‘norm’ and also evident of the need for different pathways to achieve the personal goal of family building. We need to address the inequality that stems from our diversity in order for modern families to truly thrive.

My Surrogacy Journey exists to change the landscape for modern families. As leading experts here to support people, for whom, the traditional route to parenthood isn’t available to them, right for them or in line with their gender, sexual or other protected characteristics, we know that your journey to parenthood will be as unique as you are.

In our work to support parents and surrogates on ethical surrogacy across the globe and in our commitment to ensuring that the journey to parenthood is led by the needs of the parent(s) and their surrogate, we have learnt a lot about the areas in society, health care practice, fertility treatment, law and policy which need to change to ensure that the path to parenthood is equal for all. There is still a long way to go, still a lot of work that needs to be done.

Our work at My Surrogacy Journey is focused on ensuring that our members come first, we work to ensure that surrogacy and modern family building thrive. Over the years that has involved us working hard to change the landscape through education and advocacy to create lasting change that ensures that your path to parenthood will be fair, just, in line with your rights and supportive throughout. In 2022 we realised that this work alone is a big and ongoing commitment from our team, the work may never be complete to meet all of the needs of all people planning a path to parenthood. With that in mind we launched My Surrogacy Journey Foundation, the charitable arm of our business to ensure that we have a dedicated team and strategy working towards improving the conditions for diverse pathways to parenthood.

My Surrogacy Journey Foundation operates as a charity and uses four guiding pillars to inform the projects and change programmes we deliver. Our pillars are Education, Support, Evidence and Advance and these central themes run through all of our work to ensure that we are changing the landscape to enable justice and equity in reproductive health, with a focus on surrogacy and modern family building.

The work of our Foundation is core to our offer to you as family builders. We need your support to ensure that the work of the Foundation is sustainable and able to grow to meet the ever changing, ever evolving needs of surrogacy and modern family building.

Our Change Makers campaign is inviting a core group of individuals to become regular givers and change makers in our work. With your support we can ensure that our work through the Foundation is creating the lasting changes that are needed for the world to catch up with our unique pathways and needs within family building.

If our vision resonates with you and you would like to be part of our Change Makers community, with access to regular updates, calls to action, impact reports and idea sharing please read more about our campaign here and donate as a regular giver to the campaign. We can’t wait to make lasting change with you alongside us.
