Advancements in Reproductive Technology – AI & Fertility?
Manchester Fertility tell us more…
Reproductive technology has come a long way since 1978 when the so-called ‘test-tube baby’ made its debut or when in 1985, the UK welcomed the first baby created through gestational surrogacy. These techniques – which once seemed impossible – have now become commonplace and advancements in fertility technology have continued to improve and garner more attention. The journey to parenthood is ever-evolving for so many families.
In the last decade , fertility techniques have advanced exponentially, as have the rates of successful treatment. More than 8 million babies have been born worldwide through IVF and even more through alternative treatments, such as surrogacy.
At Manchester Fertility, we’re honoured to play such an active role in the fertility industry, not just as My Surrogacy Journey’s Centre of Excellence for the North West and Midlands; but also as leading professionals in the fields embryology, andrology and fertility medicine.
Intended parents who choose us for their surrogacy treatment are guided through the process by a dedicated team as welcoming as they are professional. With our state of the art embryology laboratory and our specialist fertility team we guarantee the highest quality of care and expert knowledge.
With the ongoing development of AI technology, our laboratory is complete with specialist incubators that allow our team to examine your embryos at every stage of development. I In addition, we have software that was developed to assign rankings to embryos based on analysis of time-lapse footage captured during incubation.
The incubator, named the EmbryoScope, allows our expert embryologists to manually inspect images of your embryos in development and examine ranks assigned by AI software to predict which embryo has the highest chances of successful implantation – increasing your chances exponentially when compared with traditional incubators.
Our team is using AI, in addition to their own wealth of knowledge , to reduce the risk of multiple pregnancies and repeat cycles by transferring only the highest-quality embryos. This means safer treatment for your surrogate and more precise embryo selection for you as an intended parent.
State-of-the-art systems and processes are quickly becoming the standard across UK clinics, and it appears that surrogacy is on the rise. Research published by My Surrogacy Journey in partnership with the University of Kent suggests that the number of parents having a baby using a surrogate in England and Wales almost quadrupled in the last 10 years.
Technology is constantly improving and new techniques are being researched daily. The application of AI and other aspects of reproductive technology within fertility are very exciting indeed.
Rest assured that as an industry-leading clinic and surrogacy provider, the team at Manchester Fertility will always strive to offer the latest fertility techniques and utilise AI to improve the effectiveness of our fertility treatments, to provide the best chance of success for intended parents.
